Parent volunteers present on the country of Brazil in classroom

Westview Elementary students explored diverse cultures from around the world during Heritage Day on Tuesday, May 5, 2026. During the engaging program, students rotated classrooms to listen to a 10-minute presentation delivered by a parent volunteer or staff member who shared about their unique cultural heritage. Several presenters also wore traditional clothing as part of their presentation. Featured countries included Sweden/Scandinavia, Saudi Arabia, Romania, Slovakia/Hungary, India, Puerto Rico, Brazil, and Turkey. From clothing and food to wildlife, weather, and special traditions, each presentation celebrated the vibrant cultures represented at Westview Elementary. Following each presentation, students had the opportunity to ask questions and were able to bring home a stamped passport book, a treat bag, and a bookmark featuring all the countries they visited throughout the day. Thank you to ELL teacher Tonya Mohamed for coordinating this special cultural celebration, along with our Westview staff and parent volunteers for sharing about their respective culture with our students!
