Three Redwood fourth grade students hold white ribbons recognizing their third place finish

Avon Lake was proudly represented at the recent Math Mania hosted by the ESC of Lorain County on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at The Lodge of New Russia Township, Oberlin. Fourth grade students from all three elementary buildings participated in the exciting competition which also featured students in grades 4-5 from Amherst, Avon Local, Clearview, Columbia, Elyria, N. Ridgeville, Oberlin, Sheffield-Sheffield Lake, and Wellington. Students engaged in a variety of math challenges including a Problem-Solving Relay which required collaboration and quick solving ability, and a Geometric Construction Challenge which tested students’ ability to accurately draw lines, angles, and shapes using rulers and protractors. The competition concluded with a series of fun math games such as 24 and Set!

Westview Elementary team members Jack, Nico, and Hazel placed first, while Redwood Elementary participants Alexis, Mack, and Jaxon earned an impressive third-place finish. Congratulations to our Math Mania competition team winners and participants on their superb work and collaboration!
