News - SALT Training Brings Teamwork and Leadership Coaching to Learwood

Published on

Learwood Middle School is partnering with Sharpen Skills Training to continue its legacy of fostering leadership and sharpening sportsmanship skills among dedicated student-athletes in grades seven and eight. Selected students recently completed two of the eight empowering sessions with facilitator, Kiersten. Session one targeted individual strengths, while session two explored different types of leadership skills. Students engaged openly about their abilities, areas that may need improvement, and made important discoveries about their personal growth in leadership and how they may align or differ from future aspirations. Coaches were also invited to participate in the program sessions.

The SALT (Student Athlete Leadership Team) program introduced recently at Learwood focuses on building teamwork, collaboration, communication skills, and creating a positive impact on athletic performance while offering valuable leadership opportunities within the community. Participants are encouraged to apply the skill set and principles they learn in the program to their immediate surroundings and become a positive influence among their peers and school community. Students and staff members are grateful for the opportunity to engage in this collaborative and unifying program as they work together to become visionary leaders in our community.
