AVON LAKE CITY SCHOOLS SUMMER JUMP START 2023

The Avon Lake City Schools will once again be offering a “Jump Start” program to help students strengthen necessary skills to begin the 2023-2024 school year with a head start!

 

This program will be an English Language Arts and Math skills based program for students entering grades K-8 and will be content specific for grades 9-12.  

 

Please note the purpose of the program is to cover some basic skills to help students be successful in the grade level/courses for next school year.  This is not meant as a substitute for extended year services offered by the special education department or for any credit recovery programs.  There will also be a social-emotional component for students.  

 

SCHEDULE:  Grades K-8 at Troy Intermediate School

                        Monday through Friday, August 7-17, 2023 (last day is Thursday, August 17)

                        8:30 AM - 11:15 AM

 

                        Grades 9-12 at Avon Lake High School

                        Honors Algebra II                  August 15-17, 9-11:30 AM

                        Honors Geometry                 August 15-17, 9-11:30 AM

                        Algebra II                               August 15-17, 9-11 AM

                        Geometry                               August 15-17, 9-11 AM

                        Practical Writing Class:       August 7-10, 9:00-11:30 AM

Learn how to write and organize for various audiences and formats.                      

                        Stage to Screen:                   August 14-17, 9-11:30 AM

Exploring contemporary plays and their film counterparts. 

           

                        There is no charge for the program and a daily snack will be provided.  

                        Students in grades K-8 may also have a short recess break, weather permitting.

 

LOCATION:   All classes for grades K-8 will be at Troy Intermediate School.

                        High School classes will be held at Avon Lake High School

 

REGISTRATION:

• Registrations are accepted on-line starting April 24, 2023.  REGISTRATION LINK
• Registration is open to any Avon Lake City Schools student.  

• Registration ends Thursday, June 8, 2023.  
• Additional information will be sent to participants before the program begins on August 7th.

 

ATTENDANCE:

• Students are encouraged to attend each session.  
• Daily attendance will be taken.

 

DISCIPLINE:

Students are expected to comply with the Avon Lake City Schools Code of Conduct.  Any violation of the code may result in removal from the program.
