Functions, Statistics & Trigonometry
Avon Lake City Schools
Curriculum Framework
Functions, Statistics & Trigonometry
Course Overview:
The first semester of this course covers introductory topics of statistics and probability, with the goal of helping students to become better consumers of information and to be prepared for an introductory college statistics course (a requirement for many different fields). The second semester reviews topics from algebra courses, with the goal of helping to prepare students for an entry level college mathematics course. A graphing calculator is required (TI-83 or TI-84, approximate cost: $100-$110). Prerequisites: Algebra II or equivalent. This class meets one period daily for &frac(1/2); unit of credit each semester.
Textbook (Title and Publishing Company):
Statistics and Probability with Applications 3rd Ed. (Starnes), Algebra and Trigonometry 8th Ed.
Online/Supplemental Materials: DeltaMath
Assessments:
A variety of assessments will be given, including regular quizzes assessing new content and unit exams.
