Course Overview:
This course involves an in-depth analysis of journalistic writing that includes writing various kinds of stories with most topics generated by the student. We will also study the different types of journalism as well as copy editing and layout design. Students will be able to participate if they desire by submitting items for The Spectrum or actively participating in its publication. Students will also delve into the topic of online journalism by creating their own blog as well as respond to the writing of their classmates in an open forum.

- Students will create a multimedia space to share something about themselves or something they are experiencing in a public forum. Topics are student-dependent.
Second Quarter
- Reviewing
- The Music Album Review
- The Choice Review (Restaurant, book, video game, TV series, etc.)
- The Editorial - Persuasive Writing
- The Editorial Cartoon
- The News Feature
- If time permits: Introduction to graphic design and creating pages with visual appeal
