Curriculum Framework
Broadcast Journalism II
Course Overview:
Broadcast Journalism II is a year-long, two period lab course where students report on stories, create recurring segments, and produce Anchor News NOW!. Anchor News Now is a student-run news program that streams on youtube. Students produce their own stories throughout various phases of development including shot selection, scriptwriting, graphics, and interviews. All of these components are organized into a news package or segment. A collection of segments are featured weekly during studio production. During studio production, students write tosses and voice overs, which align with news packages and segments to create a final show. Students take on a variety of tasks including talent, editor, cameraperson, teleprompter, graphic artist, script writer, and producer, resembling the day-day environment of a local news station.
