Grade Two Vocal Music

Course Overview:

Students follow a Kodaly-based curriculum, focused on skill development to foster music literacy. Students will also learn the four instrument families in the orchestra.

  • Melody: Review solfege syllables sol, mi, and la
  • Meter: Review 2 meter

2nd Quarter

  • Melody: Solfege syllable do
  • Dynamics: pp, mp, mf, ff
  • Partwork: Canon

3rd Quarter

  • Rhythm: Sixteenth notes
  • Tempo terms: allegro, andante, presto, largo
  • Instrument families (String and Brass)

4th Quarter

  • Tempo terms: allegro, andante, presto, largo
  • Melody: Solfege syllable re
  • Meter: 4 meter
  • Form: First and second ending
  • Instrument Families (Woodwind and Percussion)
