Course Overview:

7th Grade is an exploration of different aspects of the world of music, including history, theory, eras and styles of classical music, technology, creating music, and performing and listening to music.

  • Basic music theory concepts, terminology, instruments through Quaver Music
  • Perceptive Listening Skill development
  • Classical Music Eras: Medieval, Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and Impressionist Eras

Second Quarter

  • Musical Composition - loops, original simple compositions
  • Chordal structures and writing - how chords work, chord progressions
  • The American Broadway Musical - history, format/structure, characteristics
  • Ukulele playing - reading music and playing ukuleles, the history of the ukulele
