News - Veterans Commemorated in ALCS

Published on

Veterans were commemorated in a variety of ways throughout the Avon Lake City Schools on Tuesday, November 11th. Learwood was home to a special recognition program and presentation which included an early breakfast for veterans, and continued with a special tribute in the auditorium accompanied by local American Legion Post 211. Remarks were made by Principal Dr. Nuggud, Mayor Mark Spaetzel, and Superintendent Joelle M. Magyar, who thanked our veterans for their esteemed service. Vocal and orchestral performances were made by Learwood students, along with 8th graders Ryan Gibson, Annie Murray, and Tommy Motylewski, who read their Patriot Pen essay submissions. The entire audience then listened to a veterans’ message by Corporal Ed Reust of the United States Marine Corps. In all, the Avon Lake City Schools sincerely thanks our veterans for their service to protect our freedoms and rights and preserve our way of life in our nation. We are grateful for you all. Thank you for attending this ceremony.
