News - Message for Spring Break
April 9, 2020
Dear Students, Staff, Parents/Guardians, and Community Members,
The last four weeks have been unbelievable. April showers will still bring May flowers, but COVID-19 has changed every facet of our life. The effect of the changes we have made and will continue to make in order to mitigate the effects of this virus are yet to be seen. As we navigate a different spring and summer than we imagined just a month ago let us keep in mind that we will get through this crisis and by working positively together, we will have a say in our new “normal.”
Students – Thank you for being patient, flexible, creative, and for working so hard.
Parents – Thank you for being patient, flexible, and for being so supportive of your students and the school staff (and for sharpening those math skills!).
ALCS Staff Members – Thank you for your patience, flexibility, and innovation. The effort it took to get a new system developed and implemented in such a short time is truly amazing and inspiring.
Avon Lake Community Members – Thank you for your continuing support. We Are Avon Lake!!
Spring Break begins Friday, April 10 and will end on Friday, April 17. School will resume on Monday, April 20. Please take this time to pause and regroup as families and as community members. Our normal efforts during a normal school year are impressive. Avon Lake City School District is exceptional and that is not by chance. We have a great plan and we work hard for the success of all students. Our plan has changed in 2020 and the effort to make that change has been tremendous. Spring Break is always a welcome relief and this year it is more important than ever to take a break from all of our current stresses.
Read for fun! Find your “bliss” and get ready for the end of the school year. There are still many unknowns in our world today and the bigger world around us, but I am encouraged by our fellow men and women as time and time again I see people reaching out to help their neighbors and their community.
During Spring Break our Food Service Department will continue its Grab-N-Go Breakfast & Lunch Program. Please know that the delivery schedule over Spring Break will be Monday, Wednesday and Friday as listed below. If you should have any questions, please call 440-930-8215.
Monday – You will receive meals for Monday & Tuesday.
Wednesday – You will receive meals for Wednesday & Thursday.
Friday – You will receive meals for Friday, Saturday & Sunday.
Keep up the great work! Keep practicing social distancing!
Keep everyone suffering from COVID-19 or who has a loved one suffering from the virus in your thoughts!
Stay safe and keep supporting each other!!
Go Shoremen and Shoregals!
