Congratulations to the Avon Lake High School Academic Challenge Team which recently competed against Amherst Steele on the Scholastic Games radio show! This 4th episode of the season will be broadcast on Monday, February 17th on WEOL 930 AM/100.3 FM. The brilliant members who participated are Andrew Cline, Alex Chmiel, and Jacob Mars. For those not able to listen to the initial broadcast on February 17th, the program will be available after the initial airing at https://standoutscholars.com/, and as a podcast on Apple Podcasts (search "Scholastic Games"). Avon Lake High School boasts a clever trivia team that participates in a full season of competitions on tv shows, radio shows, and features a full SWC schedule that includes both JV and Varsity matches. The next tape date for the WEWS Academic Challenge TV Show is planned for next Wednesday, February 5th at 7:00 P.M. Both Scholastic Games and Academic Challenge are sponsored by the Nordson Corporation, headquartered in Westlake. Nordson has a long and proud history of giving back to communities where they live and work. Scholastic Games began its run in the fall of 1990, with its original format dating back to the 1980s. While the questions are continuously updated, this show is a true classic and is the longest continuously running program of its type in the region. Its focus on the greater Lorain County area has provided many growth opportunities for local students in high school and beyond. Academic Challenge is in its 56th season in 2025 and its platform has a wider reach to high schools across Northeast Ohio. The fast-paced show covers a variety of subjects and its goal is to allow students to demonstrate their academic knowledge and provide a way for families to come together to support their local schools.
