News - Learwood MS Hosts Pearl Harbor Ceremony with American Legion

Published on

Students and staff willing to come outside for a brief but meaningful ceremony, took the time to honor the memory of lives lost on the morning of December 7th, 1941, and the surprise attack on Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. Special guest members from the American Legion Post 211 helped to make the ceremony solemn and very realistic for the students and staff who came outside to witness the activities. After remarks from 8th grade student Katie O’Toole, who summarized the background of the attacks on Pearl Harbor, members of the 211 performed a 3-shot tribute, and listened to “Taps,” played on a trumpet. If only outdoors for a matter of moments, students and staff at Learwood, along with our friends and partners at American Legion Post 211 made the most of this time, to bear remembrance to a meaningful and tragic day in American History. Thank you to all who attended and helped to organize this special event.
