News - 2 ALHS students named to All-State Choir

Published on

Congratulations to ALHS juniors Matthew Sherban and Jeremy Sapola for being selected and performing with the OMEA (Ohio Music Education Association) All-State Choir in Columbus (Feb. 3).

More than 1,200 students auditioned and 150 were selected for this prestigious honor. The students attended the OMEA Professional Development Conference and gained valuable knowledge regarding best practices in the field of music education, as well as the opportunity to interact and perform with other students from around the state.

The OMEA believes that all students should have equal access to high quality music instruction delivered by licensed music teachers through comprehensive school music programs in general, instrumental, and choral music education.

OMEA advocates for comprehensive music programs in general, instrumental, and vocal music education; state and national music standards with assessments to ensure that students meet high academic expectations; and licenses music teachers with adequate instructional time and appropriate facilities and materials for music programs.
