News - ALHS Model UN Club wins Delegation Award

The Avon Lake Model United Nations Club recently participated in the Lorain County Community College Model UN Conference hosted by the Cleveland Council on World Affairs with schools from around the Cleveland area and won the Best Large School Delegation Award for the second year in a row!

Twenty-nine ALHS students attended the conference and represented a variety of nations in eight different committees. ALHS students also received individual awards including juniors Sofia Distefano and Jackson West winning the Excellent Delegation Award as the United States in the Security Council. Junior Chase Tamoney won the Gavel Award as Iraq in the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC).

Senior Evan Balwani won the Gavel Award and the Position Paper Award as the United States in the Economic and Social Council. Junior Silas Sherman won an Honorable Mention Award as Switzerland in the United Nations Environment Programme.
