FBI Special Agent Long with Learwood seventh grade female students

Seventh grade girls in the ROX (Ruling Our Experiences) group at Learwood Middle School had the special opportunity to listen to a career presentation by FBI Special Agent Nikki Long on Wednesday, April 9, 2025. Special Agent Long shared about her career path which began with earning a degree in sociology at Cleveland State University and was followed by several positions at a bank, including an investigative role. Returning to a previous desire to serve her country at the FBI, Special Agent Long was able to have a helpful conversation with an FBI employee which served to provide more information and clear up misconceptions about a career in federal law enforcement. Through persistence and hard work, she was accepted into the FBI training program and has enjoyed a fulfilling career in an investigative role.

Special Agent Long encouraged those in attendance to maintain a positive mindset about their respective futures and stressed the importance of a strong work ethic and perseverance as keys to attaining personal goals. The presentation also featured a Q & A portion during which students had the opportunity to learn more about working at the FBI. This engaging career exploration experience was coordinated by Kristin Acton,  Social Worker for LEAPS Preschool & 7-12th grade students. Avon Lake City Schools would like to thank FBI Special Agent Nikki Long for meeting with our ROX Group members and providing an inspiring message.
