Curriculum Framework
Broadcast Journalism I
Course Overview:
Broadcast Journalism is a semester-long course where students learn how to tell journalistic stories using a variety of media. Students start by learning camera techniques, then transition into editing practices. Broadcast Journalism is the area where storytelling, visual aesthetics, and creativity combine. When students start to grasp camera and editing techniques, they will then capture b-roll and soundbites to create journalistic pieces such as news packages, nat sound packages, reels, montages, commercials, and public service announcements. By the end of the course, students will have the opportunity to learn how to operate equipment in the studio and record their own news broadcast.
