News - Update from ALCS--Route 83 Lane Closures

April 8, 2022

We have been notified today that Columbia Gas will be completing gas line re-routing work on Avon Belden Rd./State Rt. 83 in preparation for the Heider Bridge project this summer.  This work will close the Southbound lane of Rt. 83 between the Board Office entrance and the South entrance of the high school at 8:00 a.m. daily beginning on Monday, April 11th and continuing for approximately three weeks.  Columbia Gas is working with us to maintain a normal traffic flow during student arrival at the high school, and we are grateful for their collaboration.

Traffic between the South entrance to the high school and the Board Office entrance will be one lane at dismissal, and we are working with Officer Hurd to send all exiting traffic to the South (left) at dismissal during the utility work by manually operating the traffic signal at the South exit.

Although one lane traffic will be maintained by flaggers and uniformed officers, we strongly recommend that our families avoid Southbound travel between the Board Office entrance and the South entrance to the high school after 8:00 a.m. if possible, during the next three weeks.
