News - 4th Grade Families - Troy Parent Info Night!

Published on

Hello, current 4th and 5th grade parents,

As the 2020-21 school year winds down, we have begun the planning and preparation for 2021-22. It is our hope and expectation that starting in August, school will look and feel more traditional. While we cannot offer all of our typical transition activities, I invite you to attend a virtual Parent Information Night on May 19th at 6:30 pm. This approximately 45-minute presentation will answer the majority of your questions about Troy’s philosophy and how it is implemented. If you cannot attend the meeting, the Google Slide Show link will be emailed to all parents on Thursday, May 20th. While I will attempt to answer some questions during the presentation, you can always email me if you have a personal concern or inquiry.

Other activities planned to help our kids feel comfortable entering next year are:

  1. Mr. Pat Walsh, our school counselor, will host a Zoom panel discussion with the 4th graders.
  2. Mrs. Rebecca Bain, our Band and Orchestra teacher, will visit all elementary schools to show kids the instruments.
  3. On Tuesday, June 8th, kids and families may walk the halls of Troy between the hours of 8:00 am to 3:00 pm. The school will be in a bit of disarray as we put the classrooms back together, but at least they can see the building. There will be no formal presentations that day.
  4. I will also start to meet with all 4th and 5th grade teachers to schedule classes for next year. I will rely heavily on the recommendations of your child’s current teacher for team and course placement. I ask that you respect the process. Parent requests are not directly considered.

Thank you for your support,
