SALT Training Brings Teamwork and Leadership Coaching to Learwood

Published on

Learwood Middle School is partnering with Sharpen Skills Training to continue its legacy of fostering leadership and sharpening sportsmanship skills among dedicated student-athletes in grades seven and eight. Selected students recently completed two of the eight empowering sessions with facilitator, Kiersten. Session one targeted individual strengths, while session two explored different types of leadership skills. Students engaged openly about their abilities, areas that may need improvement, and made important discoveries about their personal growth in leadership and how they may align or differ from future aspirations. Coaches were also invited to participate in the program sessions.

Congratulations to Avon Lake High School senior Luke Slogar, who rolled a 300 score, helping propel the varsity boys bowling team to the North Shore Bowling Conference title this past weekend. You can see you a video of the moment he goes perfect! His perfect game led the team to earn more total pins than all other tourney participants, and in the process, secure their second title in the last three years. Other outstanding performances were turned in by senior Jeffrey Toth, junior William Sindelar, sophomore Chris Richard, and freshman Cooper Poling, who all eclipsed a 600 series for their three-game matches. Winning the NSBC Tournament serves as an important preparation for the upcoming Southwest Conference Tournament which takes place during the weekend of February 6th – 8th and the start of state tournament play the following weekend. Congratulations to Luke Slogar on this perfect game, and the entire team for winning the NSBC tournament. All the best in post-season competition.
