ALCS Celebrates Commended Students

Congratulations to the following Avon Lake High School students for achieving Commended status on the National Merit Scholarship Program: Jack Erdmann, Caden Anderson, Zackary Kreitzer, and Adam McFadden. This places our Avon Lake students among the top 34,000 students in the entire nation and with this award, have been recognized for their exceptional academic promise. The district would like to congratulate Jack, Caden, Zackary, and Adam for demonstrating this outstanding accomplishment and continues encouraging them in broadening their educational opportunities. Way to go, Shoremen! Great job on getting the job done in your academic pursuits.

As a companion to the data which is presented in the state report card, so much achievement takes places from the elementary schools, Troy, Learwood, and to the High School levels in our district. In what will become a annually updated resource, this District Scorecard provides a complete picture of success for the whole child in the Avon Lake City Schools. Aubrey Kozar Continues to Shine!

Aubrey Kozar, our very own ALHS junior recently qualified for, and proudly represented Team USA at the Para Pan Pacific Championships in Walnut, California, held in late August. This was Aubrey’s first international championship meet, bringing together more than 170 swimmers ages 16–48 from 10 countries, including Australia, Brazil, Japan, Canada, New Zealand, Peru, and more. The Para Pan Pacs was last held in the United States in 2014 and serves as an important staging event for the Paralympic Games. Aubrey had an impressive showing throughout the competition, advancing to the finals (top 24) each day in either individual events or as a member of Team USA relay teams. She competed on both the Medley Relay and 400m Freestyle Relay teams.
