Eastview students enjoyed a special visit from members of the Avon Lake High School chapter of the National English Honor Society on Thursday, October 29, 2026. Throughout the morning, NEHS members read to small groups of students from each grade level both inside their classrooms and in the nearby hallway area. From beloved classics such as Corduroy and Green Eggs and Ham to newer favorites, both groups of students had a wonderful time enjoying delightful stories together. The visit to Eastview was made extra special due to the fact that NEHS members have been corresponding as pen pals with first grade classrooms at the building, providing the opportunity for first graders and their pen pals to meet in-person for the first time. NEHS members have also been serving as pen pals with third grade students at Westview Elementary. Overall, the event provided a wonderful opportunity for students of different ages to interact while promoting literacy. Thank you to the NEHS members at Avon Lake High School for taking the time to engage and read with our Eastview Elementary students!
