News - Permanent Improvement Renewal Issue on May Ballot
Published on
Avon Lake City Schools will have a Renewal Levy for Permanent Improvements on the ballot this May. Please keep in mind that renewal levies do NOT increase your taxes, and this particular issue will renew 1.5 mills, generating approximately $750,000 per year for the next 5 years, to be used for permanent improvements. These are restricted by law to help fund long-term assets that have a lifespan of 5 years or more including building repairs, buses, and major repairs on equipment to ensure they remain functional. Bus purchases, roofs, parking lot, and building repairs are common expenses for which PI funds are used. This Permanent Improvement levy was originally passed in 1991 and has been regularly renewed since then. Thank you for learning the facts about this Renewal Issue.
